Let's answer the age-old question — 'Blondes or Brunettes?' We have teamed up with the California Central Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association to tackle Alzheimer’s. On Saturday, July 22 at Bishop Diego High School, the RivALZ Blondes vs. Brunettes Santa Barbara flag football game will kick off, drawing more than 500 local fans. The two teams, divided based on the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes, aim to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease among a younger generation. Funds raised will benefit the care, support, advocacy and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Blondes vs. Brunettes Santa Barbara is a local volunteer-driven group of young professionals who support the Alzheimer’s Association by playing, coaching and working tirelessly, both on and off the field. While victory is the goal for the teams, the mission is to raise crucial funds to provide support for families and caregivers and to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Draughtsmen Aleworks will work with the Chapter’s local Santa Barbara office in order to further the fundraising efforts by partnering as a Game Day Tailgate Sponsor, serving our beer as well as extending the age-old rivalry of blondes vs. brunettes in the taproom. We will donate $1 for every karma pint purchased between June 15 and July 31 to the Alzheimer’s Association. In the spirit of friendly competition, participants can vote which team (Blondes or Brunettes) will receive their donation.
There are more than 10,000 people living with this disease in the Santa Barbara County. All of us at Draughtsmen have a personal connection with Alzheimer’s. Aside from supporting a good local organization, we look forward to having some fun in the taproom with the age-old rivalry of blondes vs. brunettes.
In the past three years the event has raised over $220,000. This year the goal is to raise $100,000. There are multiple ways to get involved: become a sponsor, donate to a player or team, have a karma pint at Draughtsmen, or simply attend the game.
Game day is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Bishop Diego High School, Santa Barbara. Tickets are $20 by donation and VIP passes are $60 by donation. For more information, please visit http://www.act.alz.org/bvbsb or Katelyn Reeves at kreeves@alz.org or 805.892.4259 ext.103.
