The Guinness Book of World Records is being attempted for eating three of the world’s hottest peppers, Carolina Reapers, in record time. This world record will take place at Draughtsmen Aleworks in Goleta, CA at 6:30pm on Saturday, February 10th.
Mathew Bitter, a local Goleta resident and father of five will attempt to break the current record of 10.95 seconds. In order to break the current Guinness Book of World Record Bitter will need to consume three Carolina Reaper in 10.9 seconds. No liquids may be consumed for one minute after the peppers have been eaten. Carolina reapers measure over 1.5 million on
the Scoville heat unit scale making them the hottest peppers in the world.
For those that want to support Bitter and his Guinness Book of World Record attempt Draughtsmen Aleworks will be donating $1 for each pint purchased from the karma tap that day to the Pacific Pride Foundation and the work they do with youth in and out of schools with programs that support anti-bulling and strong community through School Leadership Development, PROUD Youth Group, Youth Advocate Leadership Program (YALP), Youth Connect and Models of Pride Conference. Direct donations can also be made to the Pacific Pride Foundation at the taproom on the day of the event.
